A new chapter for the blog

Today I’m proud to announce that Small Space, Big Taste now lives at raelambert.com. The blog has been completely reimagined and rebuilt from the ground up. It will still have the same voice (me!) and focus on small space living, but now has a stronger vision along with a whole bunch of new features to discover!

After you’ve had a chance to check out what’s new, I’d be forever grateful if you invited a friend to join the community at raelambert.com/newsletter.

Here’s what’s new:

01. BRAND

A new name, url, and visual style that better represents who I am and where I want to take the blog in this next chapter.

My BFF Matt (he was my very first newsletter subscriber) tries to type in the URL of Small Space, Big Taste, I can see his hesitance as he tried to remember which thing is big and which thing is small. It’s not his fault, it’s mine.

02. SHOP

The shop page is where you can easily discover the products I use and love in one place.

People are always asking where I got this or that and it’s always a bit of hoop jumping to find the url and paste it into the Instagram comments. Also, in order for me to justify putting so much time and money into this blog, it needs to earn some money. Adding this shop page where people can find products I use and love solves for both things.

03. TOPIC

Work is a big part of our lives so I’ve added a category to help you do less and earn more.

I’m a business owner. I had some work-related resources on my personal website that had a ton of engagement. Rather than split my traffic and maintain two sites, I decided to bring in my thoughts about work and entrepreneurship under one roof. There isn’t much there yet, but watch this space!

04. TRAVEL SERIES

They say a picture is worth 1,000 words but sometimes it’s better to live in the moment, not our phones.

I really have no business creating a blog with visuals since it’s not in my nature to take pictures. I’m getting a bit better at it, but my default is to live in the moment and leave the phone behind. I’ve also been on some adventures that were not conducive to a phone. They also happen to be some of the best experiences of my life. So I created this series to celebrate and remember the moments where we were too busy to snap a pic or when the photograph just didn’t do the experience justice. Join me in celebrating living in the moment by submitting your own story here.

05. PLAYLIST PAIRINGS

Since I don’t drink alcohol, instead of wine pairings, look out for “playlist pairings” now available with most recipes.

I love wine, I really do, but several years back I developed some kind of allergy. I will write about this more in depth someday, but rather than take medication or conduct a bunch of uncomfortable experiments to find out what I can and can’t drink—I cut it out all together.

06. FREE GUIDES

Previously buried deep in blog posts, you can now find the free resources I’ve created all in one place.

It includes. P.S. I studied finance in college (with a minor in economics) and I worked as a finance manager at a startup in San Francisco. My spreadsheets are the shit.

07. GET FEATURED

You can now submit your story to get featured in Home Tours, Making Space, or 1,000 Words or share a recipe.

I know so many bright, talented, interesting souls. Some I already knew and some I met through this blog.

08. DESIGN SERVICES

I’m now offering small space design services for homes and businesses in New York City.

I can only move so much.

09. PARTNERSHIPS

I’m seeking to develop partnerships with brands that align with my values to help support and grow the blog.

Something here.

10. BETTER PERFORMANCE

Lastly, rebuilding the blog from the ground up means better navigation and a faster page load experience.

When I started this blog I didn’t think anyone would actually read it. I optimized for fast publishing, not scale. That means my photos were way too big (like 10x bigger than they needed to be) and I didn’t give one thought to SEO.

I’m so excited about this new clarity and momentum for the blog. I’m now back to regularly scheduled publishing and I can’t wait to hear what you think!
