Floating down a natural lazy river— Sian Ka’an near Tulum, Mexico
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but some of the best days of my life don’t have a photo. Not having a photo might be exactly why it was the best day of my life.
SIAN KA´AN MUYIL RIVER FLOAT
I wrote briefly about my Sian Ka’an River float experience in the hidden gems I found in Tulum. But a passing paragraph just isn’t doing this memory justice and this is the only photo I have.
Located inside the Sian Ka´an Biosphere Reserve, the Muyil River float was the highlight of our trip. This was the second half of the guided tour we booked through Airbnb Experiences. The natural canal’s gentle current carried us through the reserve for about 30 minutes. We opted to enjoy the float so we don’t have many pictures but I can assure you it was incredible.

Crystal clear water
White sand at our feet
No liter
No noise from cars or boat motors or loud talking

Finding ways to listen and joke around with people when we don’t have fluent shared language. Teaching each other about vocab—the kind of lesson that’s hard to learn on the internet.
